Hello! Hope it's okay to share one of the TMNT fic projects I'm currently working on that I'm most proud of.
Hold Every Memory
A series of stories taking place within the Hold Every Memory AU, a fan spinoff of Ghost in the Shell by Amevello Blue.
A 16-year-old 2k3 Donatello ends up in the past in the Rise! universe. About a decade after his arrival, he faces certain death in the Battle Nexus, only to be saved by a spontaneous mystic connection to his faraway brothers. In this AU, Donnie is able to hold on to that connection and keep it from breaking.
Donnie may not have his family with him, physically, but he can reach out to them mentally, and that makes all the difference. On both sides.
1 - Hold Every Memory as you Go (3.4k) - TMNT 2k3, Rise of the TMNT
This one sets the stage for the series as a whole; introduces the concept, the flow, etc. You should be able to read any other story in this series and understand what's going on if you read this first.
2 - I'll Carry You Home (No, You're Not Alone) (8.7k) - TMNT 2k3, Rise of the TMNT
A paraquel to Hold Every Memory as you Go, focusing on the relationship between Michelangelo and Donatello as Michelangelo tries to teach Donatello how to get familiar with positive contact again after fighting for a year in the Rise! Battle Nexus.
3 - Don't Hold Back (Just Shout it Out) (7.6k) - TMNT 2k3, Rise of the TMNT
A paraquel to Hold Every Memory as you Go, focusing on the relationship between Raphael and Donatello as Raphael struggles with processing the emotional toll that Donatello has experienced, and the two of them learn to understand each other better.
5 - 'Cause Your Future's Ready to Shine (ONGOING) - TMNT 2k3, Rise of the TMNT
A fluffy Hold Every Memory interlude, wherein the 2k3 turtles meet the Rise babies for the first time.
Plus, I have a Hold Every Memory AU tag on my journal for little snippets I've written for challenges/bingos.
I have a lot more fun stuff planned! Oneshots featuring the relationships Donatello has/builds with Leo (story #4), and Lou Jitsu & Splinter (story #6), to start. I also have really vague ideas of what a happy ending might look like.
The point of all this is that Ghost in the Shell *moved* me. I love angsty stories. I love it when things make me cry. I also end up carrying the most engaging ones with me, for a while. This one stuck with me enough that I felt compelled to write a bit of a fix-it, not because I thought GitS did anything incorrectly - on the contrary, I'm so incredibly happy it is what it is - but because my heart hurt so much for these characters that I wanted to also, simultaneously, peek into a world where they had the opportunity to bypass some of that pain.
If anyone else in this community has stories posted anywhere, I'd love to check them out!
